- She was born as Dia Handrich on 9 December 1981 in Hyderabad. Her father Frank Handrich was a German graphics and industrial fair designer and mother Deepa is a Bengali interior designer.
- When Dia was just 5 years old her parents were divorced and after her mother married Ahmad Mirza she become Dia Mirza.
- After completing her schooling Dia started modeling and she modeled for print and TV commercial brand like Imami, Liptons, Wall’s Ice Cream etc.
- Dia Mirza made her acting debut in Bollywood from the film “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein” in 2001.
